Lantana Publishing. The Inclusive & Diverse Childrens Book Publisher

Because all children deserve to see themselves in the books they read

We are an award-winning children's book publisher and social enterprise with a mission to publish inclusive books by authors from under-represented groups and from around the world.

Alice Curry - Founder & CEO

Alice founded Lantana to make sure her mixed-race nephew, Ryan, was going to grow up reading books in which the characters looked like him. She can often be found walking through muddy fields or sitting with a cup of tea dreaming up how Lantana can reach new generations of young readers. She manages our partnerships with external sales teams and freelancers and oversees the commissioning of Lantana's titles.

A former academic, and now a frequent keynote speaker across Europe and mentor to young publishers, Alice is the 2017 winner of the Kim Scott Walwyn Prize for women in publishing.

“Our books celebrate every kind of child and family, exploring social themes that help happy little minds to flourish. They promote diversity and inclusion, social and racial justice, female empowerment, empathy, mindfulness and wellbeing, environmental sustainability, and more. We are a signatory to the United Nations SDG Publishers Compact and we print our books with plant-based inks on sustainably sourced paper to minimise our carbon footprint.”

Lantana flowers have petals of different colours on one stem. We chose this name because we believe in a world where children of all races, ethnicities, genders, abilities and orientations get to read happily together on one Earth.
