New Collection, Lantana diverse and inclusive children’s books

Here at StudioPips, I have been looking to stock inclusive children’s books for quite some time but I wanted to make sure we found the right publisher for StudioPips, because all children deserve to see themselves in the books they read.

I found Lantana: an award-winning children’s book publisher and social enterprise with a mission to publish inclusive books celebrating every kind of child and family. Lantana sprung from the seed of an idea back in 2014. The seed was a question: where are all the books about children of colour? The question grew into a mission: books should reflect the lives of ALL children, not just a few. And the mission grew into a publishing house, where children of all races, ethnicities, genders, abilities and orientations get to love, cherish and identify with the books they read.

Today their all-female team is busy seeking out the most exciting new and under-represented voices in children's publishing from around the world. They donate one book for every book customers buy to literacy charities doing outstanding work in the UK, US and across the globe to inspire a love of reading in young children. The also print their books on Forest Stewardship Council Certified paper with non-petroleum-based inks to minimise our carbon footprint!

I have selected a collection of beautifully illustrated, diverse and inclusive children’s books. I have ordered each book in small quantities with the idea of bringing you a new collection once the current collection has sold through.

Our first collection of the below books has now launched at StudioPips;

My Mindful A to ZenA book of poetry that gently introduces children to mindfulness concepts like Om, Yoga and Zen, as well as goals for mindful living like Gratitude and Positivity. With its delightful cast of inclusive characters, this inspirational poetry collection promotes well-being with every letter.

Anita and the dragons - A gorgeous story about the love of one’s homeland and the courage it takes to emigrate. Anita watches the dragons high above her as she hops from one cement roof to another in her village in the Dominican Republic. But being the valiant princesa she is, she never lets them scare her. Then one day, Anita must face her fears and begin life in a new country. Will she be brave enough to enter the belly of the beast and take flight to new adventures? A Barnes & Noble Bookseller Favorite. A BookTrust Book of the Month. A Love Reading For Schools Book of the Month.

 Peace and meA child-friendly exploration of what peace means to you and me. This gorgeously illustrated collection of inspirational ideas about peace is based on the lives of Nobel Peace Prize Laureates of the 20th and 21st centuries, among them Nelson Mandela, Martin Luther King Jr., Mother Teresa and Malala Yousafzai. Endorsed by Amnesty International. An USBBY Outstanding International Book. A Times Education Supplement Top Children's Book of the Year.

Maisie’s scrapbook - A joyful celebration of a mixed-race family and the love that binds us all together. As the seasons turn, Maisie rides her bull in and out of Dada’s tall tales. Her Mama wears linen and plays the viola. Her Dada wears kente cloth and plays the marimba. They come from different places, but they hug her in the same way. And most of all, they love her just the same. Family Category WINNER, Northern Lights Book Awards.

I hope you enjoy reading the books as much as I do with my own children.

The books are now available to purchase here at StudioPips.com
